What is Orthodontics?

Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that oversees the supervision, guidance and correction of the teeth, jaws and surrounding facial bones. An orthodontist is a dentist who has completed an American Dental Association accredited graduate program for two to three years in the specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. Dr. Nelson has earned her certificate and master's degree in orthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
